Golf to End Cancer

Join Marathon of Miracles, the wellness and cancer prevention nonprofit, at Caves Valley Golf Club August 15th, 2011 for "Golf to End Cancer." This five star celebrity-am golf outing at one of America's greatest courses will feature some of the biggest names in TV, film, music and sports playing alongside VIP golfers like yourself who want to see an end to cancer! Hi,
"Golf to End Cancer," a Celebrity-Am golf event to help in the fight against cancer, is scheduled to take place August 15th at the prestigious Caves Valley Golf Club in Maryland. You're invited to play a role in the continuing successes in the prevention and treatment of cancer by supporting this celebrity event.
WHAT IF I DON'T GOLF?Even non-golfers can participate in the event, place an ad in the "19 Ways to Wellness" booklet, or make a donation to help the cause. There will be a raffle (winners need not be present) and there will be great food and an incredible live and silent auction.
WHY IS THIS EVENT IMPORTANT?Leading health associations agree that most cancers are preventable or treatable, but many people still don't know that and assume there's little they can do. Education, early detection and the practice of wellness are the keys to healthy living. Golf to End Cancer will assemble influencers and thought leaders who will become better equipped to spread the wellness message through their organizations and media relationships. The event benefits Marathon of Miracles, a nonprofit that my wife Jane and I started in 2006 to help cancer survivors, promote wellness and connect families that are battling cancer with resources that can help save lives. Jane is a breast cancer survivor and we've lost parents and other family members to numerous varieties of the disease. This event will raise funds and awareness for wellness programs that can literally saves lives — maybe even someone in your family. Funds raised and awareness generated will help MOM fulfill its' ultimate goal of helping to end cancer in our lifetime.
STARS WILL SHINEEmmy Award winning actor Glynn Turman (The Wire, In Treatment, etc.), Actor Dennis Haysbert ("24," "The Unit", Allstate commercials, etc.), jazz great Marcus Johnson, former NFL player and head of the NFLPA retired players Andre Collins, poker star Steve Dannenmann, radio personality/entertainer Kirk McEwen (105.9 The Edge), radio personality Drew Forrester (AM1570 WNST), and stars from "Good Fellas of Baltimore" are scheduled to join VIP golfers in this 5-star event.
HEROES WILL BE HONOREDPeople will be honored for their incredible contributions to helping cancer survivors, and promoting wellness and cancer prevention with the very first ever "Miracle Worker Awards." Honorees include: * Suzanne Lindley, cancer survivor and founder of YES (www.beatlivertumors.org), a nonprofit helping people with liver tumors. Suzanne has beaten cancer several times, is living with cancer, and has been responsible for many lives being saved because of her educational seminars, her providing people with access to treatments and her being a tireless advocate for funding and support for cancer patients. * Eileen DeCesare, President/CEO Emeritus of Professional Healthcare Resources, is an 18-year Breast cancer Survivor. Eileen says "Cancer actually changed the course of my life and directed me to a more positive outlook in life. I have worked all these years to raise awareness about cancer to many people that I supported through their treatments. I will continue to do this the rest of my life."
A GOLFER-ORIENTED WELLNESS BOOKLET WILL BE PUBLISHED2,500 copies of "19 Ways To Wellness," a wellness booklet geared towards the affluent golfer market (including the event program insert), will be published and distributed to all event participants and to CEO's, VIP's, golfers and golf shops in the Baltimore area — starting with attendees of Golf to End Cancer! MORE ABOUT MARATHON OF MIRACLESMarathon of Miracles manages www.survivorcelebration.com and www.networkforacure.com, which are websites and programs that bring people together in social-network and live settings to connect them with resources and care to help them navigate the waters of wellness and cancer care. Survivor Celebration was awarded a National Community Service Award in 2007 for a music CD and national event tour that helped breast cancer survivors and their families. The MOM all-natural snack line introduces people to healthy eating and raises funds for MOM's family wellness programs which include education for the prevention of cancer, diabetes and childhood obesity. MOM's long-term goals include helping to shift societal treatment of cancer and other diseases from costly "reactionary medicine" to "preventative care," which will save millions of lives and billions of dollars, increase productivity in the workplace, and help avert a total collapse of a strained and bloated health care system. www.marathonofmiracles.orgMORE ABOUT CAVES VALLEYCaves Valley, which I can best describe as Maryland's version of Augusta National, was the site of the 2002 U.S. Senior Open and is considered to be one of the premier private clubs in the world. For anyone who cares, I guess I’ve taken a break from photography for the moment. I seem to have lost the passion, but I hope to get it back eventually. Thanks to everyone who’s left me a comment over the years! I appreciate them very much!

Happy Photographing!

This is the studio’s grip truck. Luckily, the scissor lift got me just high enough to frame this correctly. The biggest challenge actually proved to be moving it in place enough so the cyc would cover it, and the top was lit enough by the head we mounted up top.
